Weld On Solvent Adhesives

Weld-On (SCIGRIP) adhesives and solvents have been the go to product for bonding plastics for several decades, especially for bonding plexiglass acrylic pieces together.

WELD-ON CANNOT BE SHIPPED EXPRESS 2 DAY, OVERNIGHT OR THROUGH THE POST OFFICE. SELECT FEDEX GROUND OR FEDEX HOME GROUND FOR SHIPPING OPTION. NOT AVAILABLE TO SHIP WELD-ON TO ALASKA AND HAWAII.

WELD-ON CANNOT BE SHIPPED TO OR USED IN AREAS REGULATED BY CALIFORNIA'S SOUTH COAST AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT (SCAQMD AREAS: LOS ANGELES, RIVERSIDE, SAN BERNARDINO, AND ORANGE COUNTIES).

Weld-On 3 and Weld-On 4 are formulated for cementing plexiglass acrylic (poly-methyl methacrylate) to itself. It will aslo form strong bonds with other thermoplastics such as polystyrene, butyrate, and polycarbonate to themselves.

Both Weld-On 3 and 4 are water-thin cements formulated to develop high strength bonds for plexiglass acrylic. The bond is achieved by first softening the surfaces to be joined and then fusing them together with the dissipation of the solvent. The initial bond forms within minutes and increases in strength over time. Weld-On 3 reaches 80% of it's ultimate bond strength in 24 hours, where as Weld-On 4 reaches 80% of its ultimate bond strength in 72 hours. However, under certain conditions, especially with high humidity, a white mark on the plastic (commonly called blushing) may sometimes occur with Weld-On 3.

We stock Weld-On 3 and 4 in following sizes: 4 oz, 1 pint and 1 quart.

For applying Weld-On 3 and 4, we stock Hypo 200 and Hypo 35 applicator bottles.

Weld-On 16 is recommended as general purpose, high strength acrylic cement. It can also be used for bonding styrene, butyrate, PVC, ABS and polycarbonate.

Weld-On 16 is a very high strength, medium bodied, fast curing, solvent-type acrylic cement. Applied to cast, molded or extruded acrylics, it will affect initial bonds very quickly so some parts may be handled within a few minutes. Bond strength continues to develop very rapidly reaching a substantial level and forming strong joints within hours. Weld-On 16 (@ 73°F) reaches 80% of it's ultimate bond strength in 24 hours (see Technical Data Sheet pdf for typical bond strength & Adhesive properties and characteristics).

For applying Weld-On 16, we stock micro tips that can be used with the 1.5 oz and 5 oz tubes.

We also offer custom cut-to-size, hole drilling, edge polishing, CNC cutting, circle, and shape cutting. Request a quote for these services.
