Weld-On 16 is recommended as a general purpose, high strength acrylic cement. It is especially useful where fast cure and high strength are desired for applications such as large housings, signs, plastic letters, industrial fabrications, display items, lenses and models. Weld-On 16 is a very high strength, medium bodied, fast curing, solvent-type acrylic cement. Applied to cast, molded or extruded acrylics, it will affect initial bonds very quickly so some parts may be handled within a few minutes. Bond strength continues to develop very rapidly reaching a substantial level and forming strong joints within hours. Weld-On 16 (@ 73°F) reaches 80% of it's ultimate bond strength in 24 hours (see Technical Data Sheet pdf for typical bond strength & Adhesive properties and characteristics).
USING WELD-ON 16 FOR THE FIRST TIME? There is nothing keeping the cement from coming out of the tube once the cap is taken off, so when taking the cap off, hold the tube up with the cap at the top, don't put any pressure on the tube, and slowly take the cap off. If you put pressure on the tube while opening it, or if there was any pressure put on the tube during shipping, the cement will flow out with speed. Weld-On 16 is a little syrupy and can be messy. Open over an old newspaper or paper towel. Practice applying the cement if possible. We recommend using our micro tips with Weld-On 16 to help control the flow of the cement. Another way to apply it is to use a toothpick or something similar to spread the cement. Be sure to read the directions on the back of the tube before using.
